How to configure a proxy server on Android?

How to configure a proxy server on Android?

Android allows you to configure the proxy settings for each Wi-Fi network. This is sometimes necessary to access the Internet on a business or school network, for example.

CONNECTION :

The proxy you configure will be used by Chrome and other web browsers, but not necessarily through your browser. be used by other applications. Each application developer can choose whether to use Android’s proxy or not. This is another good reason why you should use VPN instead of a proxy. With a VPN, you can force network traffic from the entire application via the VPN connection. It is a better way to hide your IP address or to access geoblocked sites that are not available in your country.

This process is the same for all modern versions of Android, from Android 4.0 to 7.1. Some device manufacturers are changing the appearance and functions of the Android Settings screen. You can therefore find your Wi-Fi or proxy parameters in a slightly different location.

Open the Android Settings application and press “Wi-Fi” to display the list of Wi -Fi networks.

Press at length the name of the Wi-Fi network for which you want to modify the proxy parameters. Press “Modify the network” when a menu appears.

If you are not already connected to the Wi-Fi network, you must connect to the Wi-Fi network and enter its secret sentence before you can access the “Modify” menu. Network “options.

Develop the “Advanced Options” section on this screen. Press the “Proxy” option and select “Aucun” for any proxy, “Manual” to manually enter the proxy server settings, or “Auto-Config Proxy” to automatically detect the appropriate parameters for your network.

The “Proxy Auto The” Config “option may not be available on old versions of Android.

If you select “Proxy Auto-Config”, Android will ask you to enter the address of an automatic proxy configuration script, also called .PAC file . If your proxy organization or service provider needs a .PAC file, your network administrator or service provider will provide you with the address of the .PAC file you need here

Unlike other operating systems: Windows, macOS, iOS, and even Google Chrome OS-Android does not support the automatic discovery protocol for web proxy, or WPAD. This is sometimes used on professional or school networks to automatically distribute proxy parameters to network devices. If you activate “Proxy Auto-Config”, nothing will happen unless you provide the address of a .PAC file where Android can acquire the parameters of the proxy.

On a network using WPAD, you must either point Android in the appropriate automatic proxy configuration script or manually enter the proxy server parameters.

If you select “Manual”, you can manually enter the details of the proxy server. Enter the proxy address in the “Proxy hostname” box. Despite the name of the box, you can enter the two host names such as “proxy.example.com” and IP addresses as “192.168.1.100” here. Indicate the type of address you have. Enter the port required by the proxy in the “Proxy Port” area

If you want Android to ignore the proxy for all addresses, enter them in the “Contour the proxy” area by separating them with commas. For example, if you want Android to access phhsnews.com and example.com directly without using the proxy, enter the following text in the area :

phhsnews.com, example.com

Press “Save” to save your settings when you are finished.

Each Wi-FI network has its own proxy server parameters. Even after activating a proxy server for a Wi-Fi network, other Wi-Fi networks will continue not to use a default proxy server. Repeat this procedure if you need to modify the proxy server settings for another Wi-Fi network.
